i was on a mostly raw vegan diet for almost two years ... during which time i firmly believed that vegan diet is superior to all other diets, in terms of health benefits. as i delved deeper into the science of nutrition, however, i discovered that vegan diet, especially raw vegan, wasn't the best diet for my health needs.
of course, eating lots of raw fruits and vegetables has benefits. however, raw vegan diet isn't the best choice for someone who has challenges processing phenols—plant-based foods contain a lot of phenolic compounds.
