Saturn seems to be the most-feared and most-hated planet in astrology, which is understandable—it's not easy to deal with. Saturn impedes, limits, obstructs and slows us down, which seem like undesirable qualities in today's world where we want things as big and as fast as possible. however, within certain context, Saturnian characteristics can be absolute life-savers.
for instance, car's brakes can be associated with Saturn, and we all know that a car without brakes is non-functional. Saturn also represents our collective agreement on how we all should conduct ourselves: laws and regulations. as much as we may dislike being confronted with limits and restrictions, they are essential for keeping society functioning optimally.
of course, Saturn has a dark side as well—too much Saturn can lead to suffocation of individual freedom and creativity.
nothing in astrology is all-good or all-bad; it's a misjudgment to say so. Saturn's lessons can be torturous but that doesn't mean we can (or should) banish Saturn completely. just as bones are an essential part of the body, Saturn's aspects are an essential part of life when it is functioning properly within a given system.
