everyone seems to be suffering from one form of anxiety or another! i do not know of a single person who is not in the throes of anxiety, or at least some level of stress. how did we get here? i believe it's due to the insensitive world we have all inadvertently created for ourselves—a world that has an abusive relationship with fear!
fear is an essential emotion—its job is to move us away from danger. however, modern world is FULL of closed-off spaces like cars and office cubicles, which "trap" us physically & hinder our ability to freely move around—that contributes to the epidemic of anxiety!
the solution is to get into a friendly and healthy relationship with fear; anxiety is simply trapped/spinning fear. many of today's treatments of anxiety are too superficial, and therefore not permanent. anxiety, within certain context and in certain amounts, is actually necessary, because fear is necessary.
without fear, none of us would be alive right now—it's an essential emotion for survival!
so, the first step in healing any type of anxiety is to get into a better relationship with fear—understanding its place & why it gets out of control and becomes so debilitating.
